The SCAN Tumour Specific Groups are the core hub of activity to enable the Cancer Network to achieve deliverables as set out in the Cancer Strategy. The Tumour Specific Groups include clinical experts from various professional groups and management colleagues involved in the delivery of cancer services. There are nine tumour groups which have representation from each of the four SCAN boards.
The main aims of the tumour-specific groups are to promote:
- The highest standards of cancer care across the region, in accordance with the evidence base and agreed national and regional standards.
- Equitable access to cancer services and treatment across the region with care delivered locally where feasible.
- Person centred, safe and effective Cancer services that fully meet the needs of patients.
- Regional monitoring of QPIs via agreed governance process
